Tokai facts and information Tokai lies at the foot of the Constantiaberg about 25 kms from Cape Town city. Very central for visitors to the Cape Peninsula with the towns and villages on the coast of False Bay just 10 or fifteen minutes by car. The vineyards of Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia and Buitenverwatchting are just a short distance from Tokai and can be reached from the highway on the way to the opposite coast heading towards Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Tokai arboretum still has a wide selection of trees types which were part of a project to test which species from other parts of the world would grow in the area. It is peaceful and popular with walkers and for short hikes. There are a few of the good examples of the old Cape Dutch buildings scattered around the area.
