Hout Bay facts and informationHout Bay is about 20 kms South of Cape Town city reachable by road on the M63 or M6. It is an important fishing centre on the Atlantic coast of the Cape peninsula. From Hout Bay harbour there are boat tour trips to Duiker Island where a colony of Cape Fur Seals reside. The village offers coffee shops, restaurants and curio shops. There are pubs overlooking and around the harbour where food and refreshment are readily available. Local stables offer recreational horse riding and instruction. Hout Bay beach is about 1 km long and backed by scrub covered dunes. Just to the north of Hout Bay is the World of Birds Wildlife sanctuary which features about 450 bird species mostly in walk through aviaries. From Hout Bay it is just a short step to the famous scenic drive of Chapmans Peak with beautiful views back across the Bay.For a more detailed map click here (opens a new window) |
